Texas 7-Layer Dip
Classic dip that’s a must for all Texas parties. Cookwell’s version is made with turkey so it’s heart healthy.
Serves 8-10 / Prep Time: 15 mins / Cook Time: 20 mins
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 16-ounce can refried beans
- 1 pound prepared guacamole
- 2 cups sour cream
- 1-3/4 cups Cookwell & Co. Two-Step Chili Mix
- 4 cups (1 pound) shredded Mexican cheese blend
- 1-1/2 cups prepared pico de gallo
- Corn Tortilla chips for dipping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray; set aside. Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the ground turkey and cook, stirring frequently and breaking up clumps of meat with the back of the spoon, until meat is fully cooked with no traces of pink remaining. Drain off all fat and set meat aside. In the prepared baking dish begin to layer the ingredients beginning with the can of refried beans, then the guacamole, sour cream, cooked turkey, Texas Two-Step Chili Mix, and the cheese. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from oven and let the dip sit for 10 minutes. Top with the prepared pico de gallo and serve with a basket of corn tortilla chips.
