Bayou Brothers Red Beans & Rice

While our Bayou Gumbo already has the holy trinity (celery, onion, and bell pepper), we add in extra to this recipe to infuse the dish with even more flavor. Ingredients
- 1 Jar Bayou Brothers Gumbo
- 2.5 cups chicken broth
- 1 white onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 2 stalks of celery, finely chopped
- 1 16oz package of red beans, rinsed
- 1 link andouille sausage, sliced or diced
- 8 bacon strips, thinly sliced
- Cooked white rice, for serving
- A bunch of green onions, sliced
Directions
- Blend Bayou Brothers Gumbo Starter in a blender until smooth.
- In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the bacon, sausage, onion, celery, and bell pepper. Cook until sausage and bacon are browned and the veggies have released some of their water, about 6-8 minutes.
- Add the gumbo starter, chicken broth, and beans into the pot. Stir, cover, and cook on low heat for about 2.5-3 hours, until beans are tender.
- Check in periodically to stir the gumbo mix.
- Serve alongside cooked white rice and garnish with green onions and your favorite hot sauce.
