Bayou Brothers Gumbo

We’re not sure if there’s anything more comforting than a hearty bowl of gumbo. However, it can be a time consuming meal to make, and is definitely not always manageable for a weeknight dinner. Let us introduce you to a delicious shortcut - Bayou Brothers Gumbo Mix. We’ve done the heavy lifting for you in this recipe, all you need is to throw in your desired proteins, steam some rice, and enjoy - as simple as that. As the Cajuns say, laissez les bon temps rouler!
Ingredients
- Bayou Brothers Gumbo Mix
- 1 lb. fresh shrimp
- 12-16 oz andoullie sausage
- 2 cups seafood or chicken stock
- White rice
- Green onions, for garnish
- Hot sauce (preferably Louisiana)
Directions
- Sauté sliced sausage in a Dutch oven or other heavy-bottomed large pot. Let brown for a few minutes over medium heat.
- Add in the jar of gumbo mix, along with 2 cups of your choice of stock. Bring to a simmer. Once simmering, add in the shrimp and stir, until shrimp are pink and just cooked through, about 3 minutes.
- Divide between bowls over rice. Serve with your choice of fixins - we recommend sliced green onions and a healthy dose of Louisiana hot sauce.
