Burger Salad with Dill Pickle Vinaigrette

This salad is everything you love about a burger, but without the bun: introducing burger salad. Served over a bed of romaine lettuce, the ground beef gives you all the hearty flavor of a classic hamburger, except you get to call it healthy and tell everyone you had a salad for lunch - it's a total cheat code! One thing that makes burger salad so fun is that you can customize it just like you do your burgers. For example, with the meat we opted for the simpler method of cooking up some ground beef ala taco salad, but you can also add an extra step and make the ground beef into patties if that texture sounds better to you. 

Another tip: If you're a mustard lover, drizzle a little over the salad as well. If you like turkey burgers, swap the meat out - everything in this burger salad totally up to you!

  • 1 lb. ground beef 
  • Salt 

  • Pepper 

  • 1 head romaine, chopped 

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, sliced 

  • ½ red onion, sliced 

  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese 

  • Dill pickles, sliced 

  • Pickled Jalapeno, chopped 

  • ½ cup Cookwell Dill Pickle Vinaigrette 


  • In a medium skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper while cooking, and drain off any fat leftover. Set aside.
  • Assemble the salad: add the chopped romaine, tomatoes, red onion, cheese, pickles, and jalapenos into a large salad bowl.

  • Add the ground beef and drizzle with Dill Pickle Vinaigrette. Toss and serve the burger salad immediately.
